Dustless sanding in your home

Preparation is where most of the dust on a decorating job comes from. Martin sands filler, walls and woodwork with a dustless sanding system, where an extractor draws the dust away at the sanding head, so very little of it settles on floors, furniture and soft furnishings while you live in the house.

  • Dust kept to a minimum
  • Less cleaning after prep
  • Suited to lived-in homes

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to empty the room before you start?

Small items, pictures and ornaments are best moved out beforehand. Larger furniture can stay in the room. It is moved to the centre and covered, and the floor is sheeted before any work starts.

How long does it take to paint a room?

It depends on the size of the room and how much preparation the surfaces need. Filling, sanding, priming and the finish coats each need drying time between them. Martin gives a timescale with the quote after seeing the room.

Can you paint over a dark colour?

Yes. Dark colours usually need an extra coat or a suitable undercoat first, so the old colour does not show through the new one.

What is dustless sanding?

A dustless sanding system has an extractor connected to the sanding head, which draws the dust away as it is produced. Very little settles on floors, furniture and soft furnishings, which matters in a house that is lived in during the work.

Do you paint newly plastered walls?

Yes. New plaster has to dry out fully first. It is then sealed with a thinned mist coat before the finish coats are applied.

Is the quote free?

Yes. Martin visits, looks over the surfaces and prices the work. Quotes are free.
